1 Week Old Pictures

Lyndi, a good family friend of ours, came to our house and took some pictures of our family and Carter at one week old.  She did an amazing job, I thought I'd share a few of my favorites!  Enjoy!

Future baller for sure! I can't wait until he's old enough to play ball! Poor kid's gonna have his mom teaching him basketball, soccer, baseball, football... if he wants to play, that is...

Future hunter/fisherman thanks to his dad!  His shorts were about 3 months too big for him here, but you get the idea! His dad was pretty proud of these pictures!

Play Time... Also = Sleep Time (so they say)

Chris and I have really tried keeping Carter awake for longer periods of time after he eats during the day so that he'll sleep more at night... plus I've really enjoyed interacting with him and using that time to bond with him!  I think he's started to recognize my voice more and more, which has also been fun!

He's starting to look around a whole lot more so I've liked getting on the ground with him and  introducing him to all sorts of different toys, sounds, etc.

Thanks to Britni and Jared for letting us borrow this swing, he's pretty content swinging away!
Just chillin' with dad!
When Chris gets home from work he's so good about spending time with Carter!  I love seeing those two interact! He's so calm around his daddy!

We hope this is the result after play time!  We absolutely love this baby boy!

Sleep? Who Needs Sleep?

I think it's safe to say that both Chris and I have reached a zombie like state these past couple of weeks... As much fun as being a mom and dad have been, it's exhausting!  No matter how much people tell you to enjoy your sleep now, or enjoy the peace and quiet, there's no way of preparing for parenthood until that sweet little bundle of joy decides to make their way into the world!  I've had nights where I got a whole 2 hours of sleep and others that I got about 5 and it felt like heaven!  I never thought I'd die to see the day where I'd do anything for just 5 hours of sleep at night.  However painful it may be, Chris and I wouldn't have things any other way!  We are loving Carter more and more each day! He's such a healthy, mellow baby, we're very lucky and blessed to have him in our family!

We spend a lot of time burping... Good father and son bonding time!

Tummy time
I was under the impression that Carter was still too little to be doing tummy time, but Chris was reading through a booklet from the hospital and they stated doing tummy time as early as the day you bring your baby home.  We've tried this a few times a day... Carter's pretty mellow so he'll just lay there and look around for a while.  I try to stimulate him to look at toys to get him to raise his head, which he will do on occasion, but the little guy is pretty content just chillin there on his tummy for a few minutes.
Britni and Anessa stopped by on their way through town and Anessa saw baby Carter for the first time.  She was a little hesitant at first to hold him, but warmed up after a few minutes.  It was fun having Brit and Ness at the house to visit!

She wasn't quite ready to hold him here... she was fine sitting next to him though

And finally, she broke down and decided she could handle holding her new baby cousin.  By their second visit to our house she was antsy to hold baby Carter... it was killing her having to wait to hold him while he ate because he was, "eating forever!"  She was cute with him!
